Thanks to all who
provided valuable feedback on the original Selling Air! What
has come through loud and clear is that the story needs to become less
of an insider story and more focused on the key characters. And many
of you wanted more, uh, spice.
To that end, your author is busy combining what was going to be three
separate books into one novel, taking our friends at InUnison and VibraWeb
software companies from startup, through the insane IPO process and
to the ultimate crash, hastened by the tragedy of the 9/11 attacks.
The main characters of sales manager Wayne Angelis, systems engineer
Porter Mitchell, and ethically-challenged Tom Gatto are still battling
each other in the market and behind the scenes as both companies go
public. They are joined by Corrine Mitchell, Porter's sister, who finds
herself in a tug of war between an increasingly cynical Porter and Gatto
who becomes smitten with the challenging Corrine.
The new Selling Air: The Trilogy will, in short, describe
the life cycle of software startups during the insanity of the tech
bubble era via the personal transformations of the characters and will
appeal to a broad audience, not just insiders of the software industry.
Stay tuned to this space for more information!
Sincerely,
Dan Herchenroether
